Punjab’s 18-member team announced for Vijay Hazare Trophy. It includes Shubhman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Arshdeep Singh, but the name of the captain has not been decided. There is doubt over the availability of these players due to international matches.
Mohali: Indian players Shubhman Gill, Abhishek Sharma and Arshdeep Singh have been included in the Punjab team for the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, Punjab has announced the team without announcing the captain. Punjab’s first match is against Maharashtra on 24 December. Punjab has announced a team of 18 members. The team includes three Indian international players as well as several power-hitters. Wicketkeeper-batsman Prabhsimran Singh along with Naman Dheer, Anmolpreet Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sanvir Singh and spin-bowling all-rounder Harpreet Brar will strengthen the middle order.
Along with Arshdeep, Gurnoor Brar and Krish Bhagat are also included in fast bowling. He will also get the support of Gaurav Chaudhary and Sukhdeep Bajwa. However, questions still remain on the availability of Gill, Abhishek and Arshdeep. India has to play three ODI matches against New Zealand from January 11. Gill is the captain of the ODI team. After this, India will also play a five-match T20 series from January 21.

Earlier, Gill was dropped from the squad for next year’s T20 World Cup. Indian selectors included Sanju Samson in the team as wicketkeeper and opener. Gill’s form in T20 cricket was nothing special.
