The situation has become more tense after the murder of B.Sc student Surya Pratap Singh in broad daylight at Uday Pratap College (UP College), Varanasi. After this sensational incident on Friday, students got angry in the college campus and the atmosphere became violent.

Angry students targeted three college teachers and beat them up. During this, a teacher’s head got injured and he was immediately taken to the hospital. The situation became so bad that the police had to create a security cordon and evacuate the teachers and employees from the campus.

Vandalism of vehicles, ruckus in the campus

After the incident, the angry students did not even spare many vehicles parked in the college campus. The unruly students vandalized about a dozen vehicles. Students protested fiercely at the main gate of the college. The students demand that the accused be arrested as soon as possible and strict action be taken in the entire matter.

BSc student Surya Pratap Singh was shot dead in the UP College campus on Friday morning. Surya Pratap was originally from Ghazipur district and was a B.Sc. fourth semester student in college. It is being told that after some minor dispute in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences campus, the accused student opened fire on them. Surya Pratap was taken to the hospital in injured condition, but he died on the way.

The accused escaped on the bike after throwing the pistol

After committing the crime the accused fled from the spot. It is being told that he threw his pistol and cartridges at the spot and escaped on the bike. After the incident, there was chaos in the college campus and an atmosphere of fear and anger was created among the students.

6 teams to identify and arrest the main accused

Varanasi Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal reached the spot and took stock of the situation. He told that the main accused in this case has been identified as Manjeet. Six police teams are raiding different places to arrest the accused. The team of Forensic Science Lab (FSL) is also reaching the spot and collecting evidence. Police say that no accused involved in the case will be spared.

Police made the campus a cantonment

According to Additional Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Shivhari Meena, the altercation between two students suddenly turned violent and the matter reached the point of murder. In view of the furious demonstration by the students after the incident, the entire college campus has been converted into a police camp. Police forces of many police stations have been deployed so that the situation remains under control.
