Arambol: A case of misbehavior with foreign female tourists has come to light in the famous tourist destination Goa. At Arambol Beach, a group of people forcefully held two foreign female tourists and got photographs taken with them. They forcibly placed the women’s hands on their shoulders and touched them without permission. The video of this incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media. This case has once again sparked a big debate regarding the safety of tourists visiting Goa.
The video of this misbehavior with female tourists has been shared on an X page named ‘Hate Detector’. It is being told that it was the Indian tourists who misbehaved with the foreign women. According to eyewitnesses, some local people present there intervened and asked them to delete the photo and apologize. Also, they evacuated frightened foreign women to a safe place.
Recently, another incident of misbehavior with a family visiting Goa by bouncers came to light. A family from Varanasi had alleged that the bouncers treated them unfairly. After this incident, the state tourism department had issued a strict warning and made it clear that bouncers have no authority to handle matters related to tourists. The Tourism Department had said that strict action would be taken against any kind of attack, threat or bad behaviour.
Tourism Director Kedar Naik said that in view of the recent incidents, the Tourist Police has been instructed to increase patrolling day and night and keep vigil at specific places. Kedar Naik condemned the mistreatment of foreign women. He clearly said that such actions will not be tolerated and are against the culture of Goa. He also said that strict steps will be taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again and a safe environment will be created in the state.
