Video Captures Armed Men Executing Kneeling Medical Staff During Clashes In Syria

A harrowing video has surfaced from Syria showing what appears to be the point-blank execution of medical staff inside a hospital. The footage, published by activist media collective Suwayda 24 and dated July 16, captures moments during intense clashes between Druze minority militias, armed tribal groups, and government forces in the southern province of Sweida.

In the video, a group of people wearing medical scrubs are seen kneeling on the floor, surrounded by armed men. One of the gunmen grabs a man from the kneeling group, hitting him on the head as if to detain him. The man resists, attempting to wrestle away from the assailant. Seconds later, he is shot once with an assault rifle and then again with a pistol by another armed man, killing him instantly.

Several armed men in the video are wearing dark jumpsuits with “Internal Security Forces” written on the back. One such individual appears to be directing other gunmen in camouflage uniforms into the hospital. According to local reports, the attackers are allegedly linked to members of Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa’s cabinet, with some believed to be part of Syria’s Defence and Interior Ministries. Another video from the same date shows a tank positioned outside the hospital.

Of the total casualties, 7,449 are civilians, among them 396 children and 541 women. Fatalities also include 29 members of the Islamic State, 268 fighters from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and affiliated groups, and 374 local gunmen.

Graphic Evidence Of War Crimes

The Sweida hospital footage, reportedly filmed inside Sweida National Hospital, captures the apparent extrajudicial killing of detainees who were unarmed and restrained. After the initial execution, further gunfire can be heard as other kneeling individuals collapse. Human rights groups have condemned the incident, calling for an urgent investigation and warning that the video may serve as evidence of war crimes under international law.
