Earlier on Monday, Odisha’s main opposition party Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Telangana’s party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) have announced that their MPs will not vote. Both party center is not part of the ruling alliance NDA at the center. His decision may reduce the votes received by the opposition candidate. This will benefit NDA.

BJD has maintained distance from NDA and India blocks

The BJD is led by former Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik. This party has said that its MPs will not attend the election. She is running a policy of equal distance from BJP -led NDA and Congress -led India block. BJD MP SST Patra said that Naveen Patnaik has taken this decision after deliberations with senior leaders, members of the political affairs committee and MPs. They said,

Our entire focus is on the development of the state and 4.5 crore people here.

Let me tell you that this is not the first time BJD has decided not to participate in the election. BJD MPs did not vote in the 2012 Vice Presidential elections.

What did BJP and Congress leaders say on BJP’s decision?

BJP leader and Union Minister Juel Oram said, “Naveen Babu has indirectly supported the NDA candidate by deciding to be absent from voting for BJD MPs.” BJP MP Pradeep Purohit said, “He has not opposed our candidate.” Odisha Congress President Bhakta Charan Das said,

Being absent from voting means supporting BJP. It was an opportunity for the BJD to prove that it was against the saffron camp.

BRS said- farmers are not getting urea, will not vote

BRS Executive Chairman KT Rama Rao said that farmers are not getting urea in Telangana. Therefore, his party MPs will not vote in the Vice Presidential elections. They said,

The shortage of urea is so high that there is a scuffle between the farmers engaged in the line. Both Congress and BJP did not resolve this crisis. We will stay away from voting. If the NOTA option was available, BRS would like to use it.

NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan has a big lead
