Veteran writer Salim Khan discharged from Lilavati hospital

Mumbai: Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan has been discharged from Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The influential Bollywood writer was admitted last month after a health scare. He suffered a brain haemorrhage and was kept under observation for a month.

A source told News9 that the treatment under Dr Jalil Parkar was successful. They stated that the 90-year-old would be kept under care at Galaxy Apartment. Children, Salman Khan and Alvira, were said to be present at the time of his discharge. Addressing Salim Khan’s discharge, a source from the film industry stated, “The gladiator has walked back from the abyss, and full credit to the family, which has handled this with so much dignity and care.”

The veteran writer was admitted to the hospital in Mumbai on February 17. During the initial phase, Salim Khan was kept on ventilator support. “He was brought into the emergency by their family doctor, Dr Sandeep Chopra. Emergency care was initiated in the emergency & Mr Salim Khan was shifted to the intensive care unit on the 1st floor. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan(neurologist), Dr Ajit Menon(cardiologist) & Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon) & Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended to him,” said Dr Jalil at the time.

He was constantly surrounded by his friends and family. His children were captured visiting him at the hospital multiple times.

Salim Khan, who was born into a well-off family in Indore, dreamt of being an actor. He moved to Mumbai in his 20s and began trying his luck in the industry as an actor. However, he wasn’t. Soon, Salim shifted his focus to writing, and that’s where he found his calling.

Pairing with Javed Akhtar, Salim Khan delivered some of the most memorable screenplays in the Hindi film industry. Sholay, Deewar, Don, Zanjeer, Trishul, Seeta Aur Geeta and Mr India are some of the duo’s masterpieces.
