‘Very disappointed’: Trump accuses UK, Spain of not cooperating amid conflict with Iran

Washington: With conflicts continuing to increase in the Middle East, President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused Spain and the United Kingdom f(UK) for not cooperating with the US in its war against Iran.

Speaking to reporters after his meeting with German chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House, the US President also said that Iran’s air defence was knocked down after air strikes. He added that Iran only targeted civilian areas.

Spain did not allow us to use its military base: Trump

“Spain did not allow us to use its military base. I am very disappointed with the country. The US will cut all trade ties with Spain. The people of the country are great. But the leadership is not good. Also, I am very disappointed with the UK,” Trump said on Tuesday.

Trump has, however, not issued a time frame by which he planned to cut off ties with Spain. “I could stop tomorrow, or even today, even better. Stop everything with Spain. I have the right to stop it,” he added. He also accused the UK of stopping him from using the military base on the island of Diego Garcia to carry out strikes on Iran.

‘US military like no other’

Pointing out that Israel only targeted civilian areas, he added, “Our military is like no other in the world. Iran’s air defence was knocked down. The US has knocked down several of Iran’s naval and air targets. Everything has been knocked out of Iran.”

The US President stressed that he was not pushed into the war by Israel. “The regime was very dangerous for the US and Iran. Most of the Iranian leaders have been killed,” Trump said further.
