Veerbhoomi Himachal lost two soldiers in one day, bid farewell to both of them with military honors – News Himachali News Himachali


Tuesday was a day full of deep sorrow and grief for Himachal Pradesh. Himachal, known as Veerbhoomi, lost two of its sons today. One is a dedicated soldier of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and the other is a brave sergeant of the Dogra unit of the Indian Army. Both of them said goodbye to the world while battling diseases. When his mortal remains reached his native villages, the atmosphere became sad and every eye became moist.

ITBP jawan dies of brain stroke

56-year-old Bhumi Chand, a resident of Damui village in Hamirpur district, who was posted with the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, died during treatment in Karnataka. He was hospitalized for the last two and a half months due to brain stroke. On December 3, his head was operated again and there was some improvement in his health, but at around 9 am on December 5, his condition deteriorated and he breathed his last.

Dead body reached home after 4 days

Due to cancellation of air flight, there was a delay of about four days for the body to reach the village. When Bhumi Chand’s mortal remains were brought to his home in Damui on Tuesday morning, there was a silence of mourning in the village. The screams and cries of family, relatives and villagers made the atmosphere even more emotional. The mortal remains of ITBP jawan Bhumi Chand were cremated with full military honours. His son Abhishek lit the funeral pyre. He leaves behind his wife Sunita, a son and a daughter (who got married one and a half years ago).

Havildar Sanjeev Kumar passes away

On the other hand, 40-year-old Havildar Sanjeev Kumar of Drug (Dandhera) village of Baijnath sub-division of Kangra district also died untimely due to illness on 7 December. His mortal remains reached his native village on Tuesday itself, where the last rites were performed with military honours.

Havildar Sanjeev Kumar was posted in 13 Dogra Unit of the Indian Army in Karnataka and was serving the country for 21 years. Due to the demise of the soldier, a wave of mourning ran in the entire area including the village. He leaves behind his wife and two small children aged 8 and 5.

Baijnath MLA Kishori Lal was also present during the last rites. He paid tribute to the brave son and assured all possible assistance to the family. He said that brave soldiers like Sanjeev Kumar are the pride of the nation and their sacrifice will always be remembered.

Last farewell of two soldiers in one day

The atmosphere in the state became heavy due to the funeral procession of two soldiers on the same day. The services, loyalty and dedication towards the country of both ITBP jawan Bhumi Chand and Army Havildar Sanjeev Kumar will always be remembered.
