Vedanta Power Ltd delivered a strong financial recovery in the second quarter of FY27, moving into profit as higher electricity sales and improved operational efficiency lifted its performance. The power firm reported a net profit of Rs 83 crore for Q2 FY27, reversing a loss of Rs 423 crore in the preceding quarter. Its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) margin also improved, rising to 14.5 per cent from 11.2 per cent in the previous quarter.
Revenue for the July-September quarter climbed 11.5 per cent sequentially to Rs 2,908 crore, compared with Rs 2,607 crore in the April-June period. EBITDA increased 44.7 per cent to Rs 421 crore from Rs 291 crore, highlighting an improvement in the company’s operating performance.
Vedanta Power also recorded positive earnings per share (EPS) for the first time, marking another milestone in its financial recovery.
Vedanta Power Revenue And EBITDA Record Strong Growth
The company’s Q2 performance reflected improvements in both revenue generation and profitability. Revenue rose by Rs 301 crore over the previous quarter, while EBITDA increased by Rs 130 crore during the same period.
The expansion in EBITDA margin from 11.2 per cent to 14.5 per cent indicates that the company generated stronger operating earnings relative to its revenue. The shift from a quarterly loss to a profit further highlights the scale of the sequential improvement.
These gains came alongside increased electricity sales and better availability across its power generation facilities.
Vedanta Power achieved its highest-ever quarterly power sales in Q2 FY27, selling 5,593 million units of electricity. The volume represented a 26% increase compared with the corresponding quarter a year earlier.
Individual facilities also reported substantial growth. Power sales at Meenakshi Energy surged 111% year-on-year, while Jharsuguda registered a 187% increase. Plant availability stood at 98%, supporting the company’s ability to maintain generation and meet demand.
Net Debt-To-EBITDA Ratio Improves To 4.47 Times
Vedanta Power also reported an improvement in its leverage position. Its net debt-to-EBITDA ratio declined to 4.47 times in Q2 FY27 from 9.82 times in the corresponding period a year earlier.
The lower ratio indicates an improvement in the relationship between the company’s net debt and operating earnings. However, the figure remains an important metric to track as the company works to strengthen its balance sheet and sustain its improved financial performance.
The latest quarterly results combine a return to profitability with higher power sales, stronger EBITDA and an improved leverage ratio.
