Mumbai: Popular Bollywood actors Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon are set to bring the horror film ‘Obsession’ to a wider Hindi-speaking audience.
Both actors have lent their voices to the lead characters in the Hindi-dubbed version of the movie, which is slated for streaming on JioCinema’s Peacock Hub.
‘Obsession’ tells the story of Bear, a music store employee, who harbours feelings for his colleague Nikki. His life takes an unexpected turn after he uses a mysterious toy, the ‘One Wish Willow,’ to make Nikki fall in love with him. This wish, however, leads to frightening events as Nikki’s affection transforms into an unhealthy obsession.
Kriti Sanon, for whom this marks the first time dubbing for another actor’s performance, shared her experience. She expressed her enjoyment of the film’s gripping and twisted storyline, finding the role both exciting and challenging. “I absolutely loved the film and the performances in ‘Obsession’. It’s such a gripping, quirky & twisted story. I’ve never explored a character this edgy before, which made the experience even more exciting & challenging,” Kriti stated, highlighting her enthusiasm for this new venture.
Varun Dhawan also reflected on the unique opportunity the dubbing process offered. He noted that working on the Hindi version allowed him to re-experience the film and discover intricate details he might have missed during an initial viewing. “Working on the Hindi version of ‘Obsession’ gave me an opportunity to experience the story from a completely different perspective… I noticed so many little details that I may have missed on a first watch,” Varun explained, emphasizing the depth he found in the second engagement with the film.
The film, originally released in Indian theatres on May 29, 2026, explores themes of horror and romance, focusing on the dark side of love when it spirals into obsession. ‘Obsession’ will be available for streaming in both English and Hindi on JioCinema’s Peacock Hub starting October 30.
