Under Vikramotsav 2026, Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya will be organized in Varanasi from 3 to 5 April. In this, there will be a grand display of the culture and cuisine of Madhya Pradesh through hundreds of artists, traditional art, war scene, Bhasma Aarti and MP Tourism Pavilion.

Under Vikramotsav 2026, a grand drama will be staged in Varanasi from 3 to 5 April to spread the good governance, justice and glorious history of the great emperor Vikramaditya of Ujjain to the people. This special event will be inaugurated in the dignified presence of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Samrat Vikramaditya Mahanatya: Live staging of cultural heritage

Through Samrat Vikramaditya Research Institute B.L.W. Hundreds of artists will participate in this grand drama to be organized in the grounds. During this period, there will be a spectacular display of ancient Indian traditions and arts with elephants, horses and camels. This event will present Indian culture in a vibrant form.

Special presentation prepared from the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav

This great drama is based on the vision of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav. It is written by Padmashree Dr. Bhagwatilal Rajpurohit, while it is produced by Rajesh Kushwaha and directed by Sanjeev Malvi. More than 200 artistes will participate in this presentation and it will include elephants, horses, chariots, palanquins, grand war scenes, light show, fireworks, dance and glimpses of Baba Mahakal’s Bhasma Aarti. In this, the story from the birth of Emperor Vikramaditya to his coronation, the stories of Vikram-Betaal and the saga of the rise of Sanatan Dharma will be presented.

MP Tourism Pavilion: Showcase of culture and tourism of Madhya Pradesh

MP Tourism Pavilion will also be a major center of attraction during this event. Here the traditional arts, crafts, cultural heritage and major tourist destinations of Madhya Pradesh will be displayed in an attractive manner. According to Secretary, Chief Minister and Tourism Dr. Ilaiyaraaja T., this event is not just a cultural event, but an effective medium to convey the legacy of Emperor Vikramaditya to the people.

Glimpse of traditional art and tribal paintings

The diverse art and craftsmanship of the state will be displayed in the MP Tourism Pavilion. Here, terracotta artefacts made of palm leaves will be the center of attraction. Besides, a glimpse of tribal culture will also be seen through Bundeli, Gond and Bhil paintings.

Traditional dishes of Madhya Pradesh will become a special attraction

The food court will also be special in this event, where traditional dishes of Madhya Pradesh can be tasted. Dishes like Indore’s famous Poha-Jalebi, Maize Kis, Malwa Kachori, Dindori’s Urad Dal and Kodo Bhaat, Kutki’s jaggery kheer, Baghelkhandi Nimona-Puri, Bedai Puri and Asafoetida potatoes will be available here. Along with this, drinks and sweets like Bundelkhandi Sannata Buttermilk, Lemon Pudina, Aam Panna, Sabja Shikanji, Gulab Malai Lassi and Mawa Bati will also attract people.
