The shooting of Varanasi is almost complete, and the visual effects work is now moving at a fast pace. In fact, the VFX process has been happening alongside the shoot from the beginning, and director S S Rajamouli is now said to be focusing on it full-time.
As part of the post-production work, Rajamouli has reportedly approved one of the film’s most important graphics-heavy sequences.
The film includes a major Ramayana episode in which Mahesh Babu will be seen as Lord Rama. The episode also features a large-scale battle sequence, a glimpse of which was reportedly shown earlier.
The VFX work related to this episode has now been completed, and Rajamouli is said to be fully satisfied with the final output.
At the same time, the film’s re-recording work is also underway.
Varanasi is said to be based on a time-travel concept, with Mahesh Babu appearing in two different looks — as Rudra and as Lord Rama.
Rajamouli has also indicated that the film will not rely only on emotion, action and visual effects. A strong father-son sentiment is also expected to form an important part of the story.
