Mahesh Babu trains in Germany’s Black Forest for Varanasi

Mahesh Babu’s sudden solo trip abroad initially sparked speculation online. Fans assumed the actor had taken a brief holiday, as he frequently travels overseas with his family between film schedules. However, the mystery cleared up after the actor posted photos from Germany on Instagram.

The images show Mahesh trekking through the scenic forests of Baden-Württemberg alongside renowned trainer and wellness expert Dr Harry Koenig. In the pictures, the actor appears focused and physically prepared as he undergoes training designed for the demanding adventure sequences of the film.

The Black Forest, located near the borders of France and Switzerland, is Germany’s largest mountain forest region. Known for its dense forests, rivers, lakes, and dramatic valleys, it attracts tourists and trekkers year-round. For Mahesh, the location has become a familiar training ground.

Interestingly, this is not his first visit to the region. In 2024, following the release of Guntur Kaaram, the actor travelled to the same area to go trekking with Dr Koenig. His return now appears to be part of the physical preparation required for the demanding narrative of Varanasi.

Reports suggest the film’s story will span multiple countries and feature the protagonist as an adventurous traveller exploring remote landscapes.

Backed by a large-scale production setup and Rajamouli’s global vision, Varanasi is shaping up to be one of the biggest cinematic events in Indian cinema. The film is currently scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on April 7, 2027.
