Story of Varaha Avatar (Varaha Avatar Katha)

According to the legend described in the scriptures, once the Sapta Rishi reached Vaikuntha Lok but the gatekeepers Jai and Vijay stopped those Sapt Rishis at the gate, so that they got angry and cursed that both of them would have to live on earth for three births. In the first birth, both of them were born as sons of Kashyap and Diti and they were named Hiranyakashyap and Hiranyaksha. Both of them started harassing the people of the earth. The atrocities of both of them were increasing day by day. Hiranyaksha started harassing people even after performing Yajna etc.

This is how God originated

One day Hiranyaksha went to the city of Varun Dev. Hiranyaksha went to Patal Loka and started challenging Varun Dev for war. Then Varun Dev said that I am not worthy of fighting a powerful brave like you, so I cannot fight you. You should fight with Vishnu. Then all the gods prayed to Brahmaji and Vishnu to get rid of Hiranyaksha. Hearing this, Brahma ji, while meditating on Lord Vishnu, gave birth to Varaha Narayan from his nostrity. In this way, Varaha avatar of Lord Vishnu was born.

Lord Varaha avatar ends the end of Hiranyaksha

After listening to Varun Dev, Hiranyaksha asked Devarshi Narada’s address of Vishnu. Devarshi Narada told him that Lord Vishnu has taken the form of Varaha at this time and has gone to remove the earth from the sea. Hearing this, Hiranyaksha immediately reached the same place, because he kept the earth hidden in the sea. On reaching there, Hiranyaksha saw that Lord Vishnu is taking the earth out of the sea in Varaha avatar. After this, the great war started in Hiranyaksha and Lord Varaha. Lord Vishnu tore Hiranyaksha’s stomach with his teeth and jaw and again established the earth in his place.
