A year long public festival will be celebrated in Madhya Pradesh on the completion of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, this event will be held in four phases, which will include collective singing of the national anthem, public participation and Swadeshi resolutions.
Bhopal. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, the historic occasion of completion of 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ will be celebrated as a year-long public festival in Madhya Pradesh. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture, Tourism and Religious Trusts and Endowments, Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said that this event will run from 7 November 2025 to 7 November 2026. In line with the decision of the Government of India, the festival will showcase the history of the national anthem, its role in the freedom struggle and its importance in Indian culture.
‘Vande Mataram’: Symbol of national consciousness
Minister of State Lodhi said that “‘Vande Mataram’ is not just a song, but it is a symbol of national consciousness which revived the spirit of independence. This song has been a paean to our immortal freedom fighters. He said that celebrating this historical anniversary will provide an opportunity to connect the new generation with the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice. Madhya Pradesh will celebrate this event as a ‘people’s campaign’ with the participation of the entire society.
The festival will be spread over four stages of the event.
This celebration of 150 years of ‘Vande Mataram’ will be organized in four main phases, so that the feeling of patriotism remains intact throughout the year.
- First phase: 7 November to 14 November 2025
- Phase II: 19 January to 26 January 2026 (Republic Day week)
- Third phase: 7 August to 15 August 2026 (with ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’)
- Phase IV: 1 November to 7 November 2026 (Closing week)
State level inauguration ceremony in Bhopal
The state level main function will be organized by the Culture Department on 7 November 2025 at 9:30 am at Shaurya Smarak, Bhopal. At the same time, there will be collective singing of “Vande Mataram” at all the district, tehsil and development block headquarters of the state. Live telecast of the main event in New Delhi organized under the leadership of the Prime Minister will be shown at all the venues from 10 am onwards. Collective singing of “Vande Mataram” will also be made mandatory in all schools, colleges and universities of the state. Police bands, school-college bands and local musical groups will also participate in the event, making it a grand cultural extravaganza.
Special emphasis on public participation
Minister of State Lodhi said that this event will not be just a government event, but will become a “people’s festival”. Students, public representatives, government officers-employees, policemen, doctors, teachers and social organizations will actively participate in it.
Collective singing in Panchayats and urban bodies
- 8 November 2025: At 10 am, there will be mass singing of “Vande Mataram” in all the Gram Panchayats through the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.
- 10 November 2025: Singing will be organized in all Municipal Corporations, Municipal Corporations and Municipal Councils through the Urban Development and Housing Department.
The Culture Minister directed that with the help of the Tourism Department, collective singing of “Vande Mataram” should be ensured at selected main tourist destinations in all the districts, so that a sense of national pride can be generated among the tourists.
Collective resolution to ‘All adopt Swadeshi’
Minister of State Lodhi said that an important part of this festival will be the pledge of “All should adopt Swadeshi”. This resolution will prove to be an inspiring and concrete step towards self-reliant India, which will strengthen the economic and cultural self-reliance of the country.
