Who was Maharishi Valmiki?
According to some religious texts, Maharishi Kashyapa and the ninth son of Aditi are Varun. He was married to a girl named Kahrshani, from which Bhrigu and Maharishi Valmiki were born. There is another story related to Maharishi Valmiki. According to him, Maharishi Valmiki’s name was Ratnakar and he used to rob people to raise his family. Once he got Narada Muni. He asked them, ‘These sinful karma that you are doing for your family, are your family ready to bear the punishment?’ When Ratnakar asked his family, he refused to suffer the fruits of these sins. Ratnakar’s mind came to mind after listening to the family members. Then Narada Muni asked him to chant the name Ram. Ratnakar sat in a secluded place in the forest and started chanting Ram-Ram. Due to the influence of penance, his mind became clean and later at the behest of Brahmadev, he composed the Ramayana epic. Ramayana is called the first poetry in the world, in which the whole life of Lord Shri Ram is described in such a beautiful way. Goddess Sita gave birth to Luv-Kush in her ashram.
