Landslide on Vaishno Devi Yatra Route: A landslide occurred due to continuous heavy rains on the way to Mata Vaishno Devi temple situated on the Trikuta hill in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir at around 3 pm on Tuesday afternoon. Due to this, at least six people died. 14 people have been injured. Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board shared a post on X, saying, “There is a landslide near the Indraprastha restaurant in Ardhkunwari, some people are feared injured. The rescue work is going on.”

Vaishno Devi Yatra postponed, 18 trains canceled

The landslide occurred about half the way for a 12 -km walk leading to Vaishno Devi Temple. Due to this the journey was postponed. The incident occurred in Jammu and Kashmir for the third consecutive day heavy rains. The officials had postponed the yatra on the Himkoti road of Vaishno Devi in ​​the morning due to heavy rains. The yatra continued till 1.30 pm on the old route. After the landslide, it was postponed until further orders. Railways have canceled around 18 trains due to heavy rains. Most of the services from Katra are suspended. The movement of trains has been disrupted due to heavy soil erosion in the mill river and sudden floods between Pathankot Cantt (PTKC) and Kandori (KNDI).

Army personnel engaged in rescue operations

Rising Star Corps personnel have started action immediately to save villagers affected by sudden floods in many areas. These include Amali and Nad of Samba, as well as Kachle of Pathankot and Makaura Pattan and Adalatgarh of Sujanpur, Gurdaspur.

The Indian Army said three relief troops of the White Night Core were immediately deployed for the rescue and relief operations around and around it. The army posted on X, “A contingent is helping to save the lives of people in Ardhkunwari, Katra. A relief contingent has reached a landslide place on the road going from Katra to Thakra Kot.
