Vaikuntha Chaturdashi 2025
The holy festival of Vaikuntha Chaturdashi is celebrated with reverence and devotion. This day is known for worshiping both Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva together. According to the Puranas, on this day Lord Vishnu himself worshiped Lord Shiva in Kashi and offered him thousands of lotuses. Since then this festival is considered a symbol of Shiva-Vishnu unity and harmony.
Vaikuntha Chaturdashi is starting from 2 pm on Tuesday i.e. 4th November and will end at 10.36 pm. During this time, one must read the story and aarti of Lord Vishnu while worshipping. The puja is considered incomplete without this story and aarti.

According to the legend, once Lord Vishnu came to Kashi to worship Devadhidev Mahadev. After taking bath at Manikarnika Ghat, he resolved to worship Lord Vishwanath with 1000 (one thousand) golden lotus flowers. After the consecration, when he started worshiping, Lord Shiva reduced a lotus flower to test his devotion.
To complete the worship, 1000 lotus flowers had to be offered to Lord Shri Hari. Seeing the lack of a flower, he thought that my eyes are also like those of a lotus. I am called ‘Kamal Nayan’ and ‘Pundrikaksh’. Thinking this, Lord Vishnu came forward to offer his lotus like eyes.
Pleased with this immense devotion of Lord Vishnu, Devadhidev Mahadev appeared and said – ‘O Vishnu! There is no other devotee of mine in the world like you. Today’s Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi will now be called ‘Baikuntha Chaturdashi’ and the one who fasts and worships you first on this day will attain the world of Baikuntha.
On this Vaikuntha Chaturdashi, Lord Shiva presented the Sudarshan Chakra, which was equal to the brightness of millions of suns, to Lord Vishnu. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu say that the doors of heaven will remain open on this day. If any person living in the mortal world observes this fast, he will ensure his place in Vaikuntha Dham.
