Left-handed Indian batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi has emerged as a prodigy in 2025. Playing the first game in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, he outclassed all but has now been ruled out for the rest of the tournament.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a magnificent innings opening for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy opener. Owing to his 190-run knock off just 84 balls, he not only scored the fourth-fastest century in the Vijay Hazare Trophy history, but he also scored the fastest 150 in a List A game. He broke former Protea legend AB de Villiers’ record of fastest 150 by 10 deliveries.
Suryavanshi, who hit 15 sixes during the innings, now has the most sixes by an Indian in this format of the game. Previously, Vaibhav Suryavanshi was seen in action in the U19 Asia Cup, where he too scored a magnificent hundred.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi ruled out of the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy
Vaibhav Suryavanshi became a household name during the IPL and also became the youngest centurion in the history of the IPL. The 14-year-old started off the Vijay Hazare Trophy in some style, but will now miss the remainder of the premier 50-over domestic tournament in India.
The 14-year-old sensation from Bihar has already missed Friday’s match against Manipur, as he has already travelled to the national capital for the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award ceremony.
Following the end of the event, he would advance to a new series with the Indian Under-19 team, as the team looks to prepare for the ICC Under-19 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on the 15th of January.
Suryavanshi to receive massive honour from the President of India
Suryavanshi has travelled to Delhi and is to be rewarded by the President of India, Draupadi Murmu, in a ceremony that will be held at the President’s residence at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
It is worth mentioning that the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar (PMRBP) is India’s highest civilian honour for children (aged 5-18), and it is handed to individuals for exceptional achievements in Bravery, Art & Culture, Environment, Innovation, Science & Technology, Social Service, and Sports.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s coach reveals the real reason behind his absence
As revealed by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s childhood coach, Manish Ojha, the Indian youngster will advance alongside the Under-19 side to Zimbabwe, as the contingent prepares for the ICC Under-19 World Cup.
“Vaibhav won’t play today’s match because he is in Delhi to attend the Prime Minister’s National Children’s Award ceremony. He will be honoured at the ceremony. He had to report at 7 AM for the ceremony,” Ojha confirmed to Hindustan Times.
“He will miss the remainder of the Vijay Hazare Trophy because he has to get in sync for the U19 World Cup and hence will link up with the rest of the Indian team for preparatory matches,” he added. Bihar will have to advance without their dashing opening batter.
