Vaibhav went past Babar Azam and now has the second-most runs by a player before 16 in Youth ODI Cricket and the most by a player in the 21st century. Only Pakistan’s Hasan Raza had more runs at the age of 15 or lower. Quite incredibly, the Indian teen sensation is yet to even turn 15. He will celebrate his 15th birthday in March next year.
Vaibhav’s tally of four 50+ scores is also the second most by a player before turning 16 in Youth ODIs behind Raza s record set 27 years ago. He went past Babar’s tally in the second match.

Meanwhile, Vaibhav also became the first player to score over 500 players in Youth ODIs before turning 15. Previously, the most runs by a player at age 14 or lower was by Bangladesh’s Najmul Hossain Shanto, who had 305 runs before celebrating his 15th birthday.
Among Indian players, Sarfaraz Khan had the most runs before turning 16 in Youth ODIs with 308 runs. Meanwhile, Piyush Chawla is the only Indian player to play Youth ODIs at the age of 14.
Among players with more than 500 runs in Youth ODIs, Vaibhav has the best strike-rate (151.91), going past South African star Ashwell Prince’s record, who made 515 runs in 13 innings at a scoring rate of 121.17.
Vaibhav (14 years, 181 days) also broke Raza’s (15 years, 260 days) record in the second match from 1997 for the youngest player to score a Youth ODI half-century against Australia. The 14-year-old also now has each of the four youngest half-centuries in Youth ODIs and is also the youngest to score a century.
