Vaibhav Sooryavanshi Creates History, Breaks Pakistan Batter’s Record To Become…

Star India batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi on Wednesday became the youngest cricketer to smash a List A hundred, after he scored a brilliant 190 against Arunachal Pradesh for Bihar, in a Plate Group encounter of the Vijay Hazare Trophy in Ranchi.

The record for the youngest centurion in List A cricket was held by Pakistan’s Zahoor Elahi, who achieved the feat at the age of 15 years and 209 days. Vaibhav is currently 14 years and 272 days old.

Elahi went on to play two Tests and 14 ODIs for Pakistan.

Aged just 14 years and 272 days, Vaibhav raised his maiden senior one-day hundred in breathtaking style, blasting his way to a fifty off 25 deliveries before taking only 11 more balls to surge to three figures.

Vaibhav missed equalling the record for the fastest List A hundred by an Indian, finishing just one delivery slower than Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh, who holds the mark.

Vaibhav, who was retained by the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2026, went on to script further history by smashing the fastest 150 in men’s List A cricket. He reached the landmark in just 59 deliveries, eclipsing AB de Villiers’ long-standing record of 64 balls, set against the Windies a decade ago.

Vaibhav’s explosive innings on Wednesday, studded with 16 boundaries and 15 sixes, came in just his seventh List A appearance and marked his maiden hundred in senior 50-over cricket.

Last year, Vaibhav smashed his maiden fifty in senior domestic 50-over cricket with 71 off just 42 deliveries for Bihar against Baroda in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.

That knock last year had already made Vaibhav the youngest Indian batter to score a List A fifty and it came just a fortnight after he became the youngest Indian to make his List A debut at 13 years and 269 days.

Vaibhav’s record-breaking IPL debut season with Rajasthan, from launching a six off his very first delivery to hammering a 35-ball hundred and clinching the Super Striker of the Season award, catapulted him into global prominence.
