uttarakhand landslide: 4 people died and more than 50 disappeared due to sudden floods in Uttarakhand on Tuesday afternoon. Their search is going on. The flood swallowed houses and hotels. District Magistrate Prashant Arya of Uttarkashi has confirmed the death of four people.
Prashant Arya said, said, "The sudden severe floods caused havoc. We are assessing the loss of life and property. The soldiers of Army, NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) have been deployed in the affected areas to conduct search and rescue operations in the affected areas. The Home Minister has directed the ITBP (Indo-Tibetan Border Police) and NDRF to send teams to the spot for relief and rescue operations. PM Narendra Modi expressed condolences to the people affected by the tragedy in Dharali. He took information about the situation by talking to CM Pushkar Dhami. Indian Army came into action immediately after landslides. There was a landslide near Dharali village, about 4 km from the Indian Army Camp in Harshil. The army deployed 150 soldiers. They reached the spot within 10 minutes and started rescue operations.
Army personnel have successfully evacuated 20 people till 4 pm. The injured are being treated at the Medical Center of the Indian Army in Harshil. Preparations have been made to send people with critical condition to a large hospital.
