Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has sharply criticized the Congress party, stating it is ‘dangerous for the public when in power and harmful to the nation when out of government.
‘ This strong remark came on Friday in Dehradun, amidst a period of heightened political activity.
CM Dhami’s comments were specifically aimed at opposition parties, particularly in light of the INDIA bloc’s planned rally at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on November 1st. This rally is set to protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Speaking after the ‘PM-Kisan Utsav Diwas’ program, Dhami recalled former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s similar observations about the Congress.
Questioning the timing of these protests, CM Dhami highlighted the ongoing festive season, noting, ‘With Navratri over and Diwali being celebrated, opposition parties are organising demonstrations.’ He alleged that ‘misinformation is being spread regarding voter deletion,’ and challenged the idea of ineligible individuals remaining on electoral rolls or one person having multiple registrations. He accused the opposition of trying to create ‘disorder,’ which he believes could ‘potentially harm’ traders and ordinary citizens, also warning against ‘foreign forces’ attempting ‘regime change.’
Amidst these political exchanges, CM Dhami also announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Dehradun on November 6th. Shah will attend a ceremony to present colours to the Uttarakhand Police and participate in a public meeting. Earlier, Dhami praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 2019 decision to launch the PM-KISAN scheme, contrasting it with previous governments’ perceived neglect of farmers.
