Dehradun: The Char Dham Yatra, one of India’s most sacred pilgrimages, is underway in Uttarakhand. To safeguard its dignity and protect devotees, the state government has launched strict action against individuals spreading false and misleading information on social media.
Authorities confirmed that three FIRs have been registered so far against those who circulated videos and posts alleging mismanagement at Kedarnath Dham. These posts claimed that devotees were being denied darshan, forced to wait for long hours, and facing chaos due to poor police arrangements.
Misleading content was seen as an attempt to damage the image
Officials clarified that these allegations are baseless. In reality, pilgrims are being allowed darshan in a systematic and phased manner, with proper crowd management and security measures in place. The misleading content was seen as an attempt to damage the image of the Char Dham Yatra and create unnecessary panic.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed officials to take immediate and strict legal action against anyone spreading rumors or false information. He emphasized that the sanctity of the Char Dham Yatra and the faith of devotees must be protected at all costs.
Round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms
To ensure this, the government has established round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms. Dedicated teams are scanning posts, reels, and videos to identify suspicious content. Once flagged, such cases are investigated, and legal proceedings are initiated against the individuals responsible.
The government has also assured devotees that arrangements for the yatra are well-organized, with facilities for darshan, rest, and safety being continuously reviewed. Officials are working closely with police and administration to provide a smooth and secure pilgrimage experience.
Administration is spreading awareness among pilgrims
In addition to legal action, the administration is spreading awareness among pilgrims to rely only on official updates and avoid believing unverified social media claims. The state has made it clear that any attempt to tarnish the image of the Char Dham Yatra will not be tolerated.
The Char Dham Yatra, which includes Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri shrines, attracts lakhs of devotees every year. With the government’s proactive measures, the pilgrimage continues to be a blend of faith, tradition, and well-managed arrangements, ensuring a divine and memorable experience for all.
