‘Uska Logic Nahi Samajh Aaya…’

Vipin Sharma, who played a pivotal role in the 2013 film Raanjhanaa, has slammed Eros International for altering the movie’s ending using AI. He questioned the logic behind changing the original story, stating that the film was made organically and people loved it the way it was. Sharma’s sentiments echo those of director Aanand L. Rai and lead actor Dhanush, who have also publicly criticised Eros’ decision. The AI-edited version features a new ending where the main character Kundan survives, unlike the original tragic ending where he dies after being shot.

In a conversation with News18, Vipin Sharma said, “Yaar, mujhe theek nahi lagta vo. Mujhe nahi lagta ki ek film jo organically batayi gayi thi… first of all, mujhe uska logic nahi samajh aata, why? Like, why do you want to change the ending? It is already made, it did what it did, people loved it, so why change it? Mujhe uska logic nahi samajh aaya. I didn’t quite understand the need to change something with AI, I didn’t get it.”

“I am very worried about my other films. So is Dhanush. We are actively looking at judicial remedies to restore and preserve our creative content from such extraneous interventions,” he further added.

Several celebrities came out in support of Anand L. Rai. At the teaser launch of 120 Bahadur, Farhan Akhtar said, “I will always stand with the creator of the film. And if the creator of the film was unhappy about his or her work being changed, I will always support the creator. So that’s where my loyalty lies. The rest, the finer print of what happened there, I am not privy to. But that’s all I can say about that.”
