US Open semi-finals, Sabalenka vs Pegula and Osaka vs Anisimova: Preview, head to head & live streaming details

New Delhi: Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka will take on home favourite Jessica Pegula, while a resurgent Naomi Osaka will be up against Amanda Anisimova in the women’s singles semi-finals at the US Open 2025 on Friday. World no.1 Sabalenka entered the semi-final after being given a walkover by Marketa Vondrousova in their quarter-final clash, while Pegula defeated Barbora Krejcikova in the quarters.

Sabalenka has entered her fifth consecutive semi-final at the US Open and has done so without dropping a set in the tournament so far. The Belarusian top seed defeated Pegula in the final last year to claim her maiden US Open title and would be hoping to do the same in the semi-finals on Friday as she aims to lift her second consecutive title.

Sabalenka has reached two Grand Slam finals in 2025, but is yet to win a major title this year. She lost to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final earlier this year, before going down against Coco Gauff in the French Open 2025 final. Pegula, on the other hand, will be looking to reach her second consecutive US Open final after missing out on the title last year.

Osaka has been in sensational form after returning from maternity leave, and his semi-final appearance at the US Open 2025 is her deepest run at a Grand Slam in 4 years. Osaka’s last Grand Slam triumph came at the Australian Open in 2021. The Japanese star has never lost a Grand Slam title after making it to the semi-finals.

She will look to keep her flawless record intact at the Flushing Meadows this year as she aims to lift her fifth Grand Slam. Meanwhile, Anisimova will be heading into the semi-final on a confident note, having defeated Iga Swiatek, who was one of the favourites for the title in New York this year.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Jessica Pegula head-to-head:

Aryna Sabalenka has a dominant head-to-head record against Jessica Pegula. Sabalenka has won seven matches in nine meetings between the duo, with Pegula managing only two victories. The world no.1 leads the head-to-head record 7-2, including 4 wins on hard courts. Sabalenka has never lost against Pegula in a Grand Slam.

Naomi Osaka vs Amanda Anisimova head-to-head:

Amanada Anisimova leads the head-to-head record against Naomi Osaka 2-0. The two players have met only twice so far, with Anisimova winning both matches. Both these meetings took place in 2022.
