Urmila Matondkar Reveals Why She Will Miss Mumbai’s Ganpati Pandals This Year

Actress Urmila Matondkar, known for celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi with great fervour, has revealed that she will miss visiting Mumbai’s Ganpati pandals and seeking darshan this year due to her travel commitments.

The ‘Rangeela’ actress took to Instagram on Monday and shared a throwback picture from one of her previous Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. Alongside the photograph, she shared a heartfelt message seeking blessings and safety for people rather than making a long list of personal wishes.

“Ganpati Babba Moriya, Bappa, This year I don’t have a long list of wishes. Just keep people safe. Give them reason to smile. Strength for the days they don’t talk about and when life gets difficult, remind them that they don’t have to face it alone,” Urmila wrote.

She added, “Missing all the pandals and darshan in Mumbai this year due to travel. Happy Ganesh Chaturthi, beautiful people!! Flashback picture, Ganesh Chaturthi, Jai Ganesh.”

Urmila also shared pictures from one of her earlier visits to a Ganpati pandal. In the photograph, she is seen wearing an elegant orange silk saree, accessorised with a statement neckpiece, earrings and bangles. She is seen with folded hands while seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha.

Several other Bollywood celebrities also took to social media to extend their greetings to fans and followers on the occasion.

Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated across the country on September 14 this year. The Hindu festival marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, who is worshipped as the deity of wisdom, prosperity and the remover of obstacles.

The 10-day celebrations will conclude on September 25 with Anant Chaturdashi, traditionally observed as the final day of Ganeshotsav and marked by the immersion of Ganpati idols in water, known as Ganesh Visarjan.
