Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) is installing smart meters on a large scale to provide better convenience and transparency to consumers. The target is to install a total of 2.73 crore smart meters in the state. So far, more than 35 lakh smart meters have been installed. The Yogi government wants every consumer to get safe, transparent and modern power facilities.
Smart meters safe and right
It is often said that smart meters go faster and show more consumption. But this is completely wrong. Smart meters are absolutely safe and correct. Among them is the technique that is currently used in electronic meters. The only difference is that the reading and billing of smart meters becomes online, which ends the possibility of human mistake.
All meters were found correct in investigation
On August 20, a special campaign was conducted in the entire state, under which 550 smart meters were examined. Several consumers of Lucknow and other districts were checked. In the investigation, all meters were found correct and not much consumption was recorded anywhere.
Doubts will be away from check meter
More than 1.66 lakh check meters have also been installed with more than 34 lakh smart meters installed till August 15. If a consumer suspects, a check meter can be installed in their house. The report of the investigation is also given to consumers.
Complete transparency from smart app
Consumers with smart prepaid meters can see their power consumption hours on the UPPCL Smart Consumer App. This makes them easier to understand which device is spending the most power. Also, the meter sitting at home can also be recharged.
Prepaid discount and alert
Consumers with prepaid smart meters get 2% discount on power tariffs. Also, the information of the balance is given through SMS alert when 30%, 10% and 0%. Even after the balance is over, consumers are given a 30 -day grace period and additional time of 3 days. Connection is not deducted from 6 pm to 8 am and in holidays.
Avoid rumors
Power Corporation has appealed to consumers to avoid misunderstandings and rumors. Just as mobiles made a big change in the telecom sector, similarly smart meters are important steps towards transparency in the power sector and empowering consumers.
