Under Vision 2047, the UP government is preparing to make urban areas clean, safe and climate-friendly. Green infrastructure, water security, rain water harvesting, revival of water bodies and decentralized waste management are the main pillars of this scheme.
Lucknow. With the aim of making Uttar Pradesh ‘Uttam Pradesh’, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s government is working on a detailed and long-term action plan under Vision 2047. Its objective is to give a clean, safe, green and climate-friendly look to the urban residential areas of the state.
Through this scheme, urban neighborhoods will be developed on an eco-inclusive model, so that citizens can get a better standard of living, clean air, safe drinking water and a pollution-free environment. The government’s aim is not to limit urban development to just road and building construction but to link it with environmental balance and public health.
The two main pillars of the plan: green infrastructure and water security
This entire action plan of the state government is based on two main bases-
- Expanding climate-resilient green infrastructure
- Strengthening water security and ecological balance
On the basis of these two elements, there will be a comprehensive rejuvenation of urban areas and they will be developed according to the challenges of the future.
Building better and healthier cities with green infrastructure
City-centric climate action plan ready
The government’s focus is on developing urban areas as per the needs of the coming years. Under this, “City Centric Climate Action Plan” is being prepared for every city. With this plan, challenges like irregularity of rainfall, rising temperature, waterlogging, air pollution and carbon emissions will be assessed at the local level and their solutions will be implemented.
Big plan to increase urban green cover
The government is preparing to implement several green initiatives on a large scale. Under this, parks, green belts, green corridors and open green areas will be developed in the cities.
These will not only improve air quality, but will also improve local temperature control and environmental health. Besides, climate-based planning will be implemented at the locality level, which will help in real-time monitoring of problems like heat, waterlogging, pollution and floods.
Initiative to strengthen water security and ecological balance
Restoration of reservoirs and ponds
The second main goal of the plan is to give a permanent basis to water security and ecological balance. For this, ponds, lakes and other reservoirs of cities will be revived. This will ensure water availability throughout the year.
promote rain water harvesting
Rain water harvesting will be encouraged in every residential area, which will improve the ground water level and avoid water crisis.
Decentralized waste management will provide a new foundation to cleanliness
Garbage disposal system will be strengthened
The government is developing decentralized waste systems to manage waste in urban areas. Under this, arrangements like separation, processing and disposal of waste will be implemented at the locality level. This will not only give a permanent strong foundation to cleanliness, but will also play a big role in reducing pollution and environmental protection.
Safe and healthy cities for future generations
The government believes that effective implementation of these schemes will not only make the urban residential areas of UP eco-friendly, but will also lay a strong foundation to provide a safe, healthy and clean life to the coming generations. This model will also become an inspiration for other states of the country.
