Uttar Pradesh Draft Electoral Roll: The draft voter list released under Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Uttar Pradesh has surprised lakhs of people. When many voters went to search their names online, they found that their names were no longer visible in the list. The most surprising thing is that the names of maximum number of voters have been removed in the capital Lucknow, while Ghaziabad is at second place.

Where have 30% voters gone in Lucknow?

According to state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa, a total of 39,94,535 voters were registered in Lucknow on October 27, 2025. But in the draft list released on January 5, 2026, this number came down to 27,94,397. That means the names of about 30.04 percent voters were removed from the list. This figure raises many questions in itself.

Why was such a large number cut off in Ghaziabad also?

After Lucknow, most names were removed in Ghaziabad. There were 28,37,991 voters here on October 27, but only 20,19,852 names are left in the new draft list. That means lakhs of voters suddenly disappeared.

After all, how many names were removed in entire UP?

According to the CEO, 18.70 percent names have been removed from the draft voter list in entire Uttar Pradesh. Overall, names of 2.89 crore voters were not included in the draft list. This action was taken after the enumeration phase of SIR.

What is the real reason for removing the name?

Election officials say that the names removed include 46.23 lakh dead voters, 2.17 crore people who have shifted from their old address, are missing or could not be found by the BLO, 25.47 lakh duplicate voters, whose names were registered at more than one place. Together, a large number of names were removed.

What to do now if the name is not found?

• If your name is not in the draft voter list, there is no need to panic.
• You can get your name added again by filling Form-6.
• Youth who are completing 18 years of age on January 1, 2026 can also apply.
• The period for filing claims and objections is from January 6 to February 6, 2026.

Is this voter list reform transparent?

The Election Commission says that the only purpose of SIR is to include eligible voters and exclude the ineligible ones. For this, political parties, BLO, BLA and volunteers have worked together on a large scale.
