The first installment was released to more than two lakh beneficiaries of UP under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar called it a big step towards realizing the dream of the poor and middle class having a house.
Lucknow. A program was organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan on the occasion of transfer of the first installment amount to the accounts of more than two lakh beneficiaries of Uttar Pradesh under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. Union Minister Shri Manohar Lal Khattar participated in this program through virtual medium. He described it as a big step towards fulfilling the dream of the poor and middle class to own their own house.

Union Minister Shri Khattar said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh has created a new identity by providing basic facilities like housing, tap connection, toilet, gas and insurance. He said that this campaign of the government will continue until every homeless family in the state gets a permanent roof.
Women got empowerment through housing scheme
Mr Khattar said that under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, each family is getting health protection benefits of up to Rs 5 lakh. At the same time, through the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the dream of lakhs of families of having a permanent house has come true. The major achievement of the scheme is that most of the houses have been given in the name of women or in joint ownership, which has given women a strong and self-reliant identity.
Urban picture changed under the leadership of PM Modi and CM Yogi
Addressing the program, Urban Development Minister Shri A.K. Sharma said that the role of urban bodies is very important in the direction of ‘Clean India to Developed India’ under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
He said that Lucknow’s third place in the country in the cleanliness survey, Ghaziabad being included in the top 50 cleanest cities of the world and many cities being honored at the national level shows the changing picture of the state.
Model project becomes the identity of development
The Urban Development Minister said that by removing mountains of garbage, model projects like National Inspiration Site and Shivalik Park have been developed, which are becoming an inspiration for other states also.
