Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, there has been a huge expansion of women self-help groups in Uttar Pradesh. The scheme has expanded from 104 to 826 development blocks. More than one crore women have joined and become self-reliant and are selling products through e-commerce.

Lucknow. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, a rapid change is being seen in the direction of women empowerment in Uttar Pradesh. Earlier the schemes of Self Help Groups were limited to limited areas, but now this campaign has spread in the entire state. From 2013–14 to 2016–17, the scheme was limited to only 104 development blocks. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi, it has been increased to 826 development blocks in 75 districts. In this way the scope of the scheme has increased almost eight times.

National Rural Livelihood Mission: Women are becoming the new identity of rural economy

Yogi government is connecting women with self-help groups by running a campaign under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). Its objective is to make women financially self-reliant. So far, more than one crore six lakh women have joined self-help groups and are increasing their income. Women are being trained in high value products like textile manufacturing, handicrafts, food processing, dairy, beauty products and organic farming. Through this they are not only earning but are also becoming a new identity for the rural economy.

Gram Panchayat Udyami Network: Promotion of women entrepreneurship in every village

Women of Uttar Pradesh are no longer just looking for jobs, but are creating employment themselves. The aim of the Yogi government is to create a strong network of women entrepreneurs in every gram panchayat. Along with earning their own money, these women will also train other women. Banking assistance, loan facilities, marketing support and training are being provided to self-help groups. Due to this, a significant increase in rural income has been recorded and the economic condition of the families has been strengthened.

E-Commerce Platform: Direct market access for women’s groups’ products

Women self-help groups in many districts of the state are now delivering their products directly to consumers through e-commerce platforms. Due to this they are getting better market and fair price. This expansion of women entrepreneurship in Uttar Pradesh is being considered an important step to take forward the government’s vision of “Developed India-Developed Uttar Pradesh”.
