It was also informed in the meeting that the dredging projects approved for the financial year 2025-26 are being implemented district wise. This will improve river flow and reduce the problem of waterlogging in coastal areas. Along with this, keeping in mind the possible flood situation of the year 2026, new safety projects have been proposed, the process of testing and approval of which is going on.

Emphasis on real-time monitoring and drone technology

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed to ensure real-time monitoring on all embankments and barrages. He stressed on further strengthening drone mapping, water level sensors and better coordination with the local administration. The Chief Minister said that where there is excess of silt in the main stream of the river and the river has become shallow, the river should be channelized by dredging first. If the solution is not possible through dredging, then only embankments or other anti-erosion measures should be adopted.
