Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally inaugurate the Swadeshi Fairs from Gorakhpur on Friday. Swadeshi fairs are being organized at the district level across the state. Its objective is to provide a wider platform to local producers.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will formally inaugurate the Swadeshi Fair from Gorakhpur on Friday. The objective of the Swadeshi Fair is to promote local products, promote industries and spread the resolution of ‘Vocal for Local’ to the people. However, in many districts the Swadeshi fair has started informally on Thursday itself. However, its formal launch will be done by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday. Ten-day long Swadeshi fairs are being organized at commercially important and suitable places in the city, so that the general public can reach easily and participate actively.
Fair being organized under UP International Trade Show
It is noteworthy that under the UP International Trade Show 2025, instructions have been issued to organize indigenous fairs at the district level. During the event, the Minister in-charge of the district and other district representatives have been compulsorily invited. The Deputy Commissioner of each district will look after the arrangements of the fair as the Industry Nodal Officer and is ensuring the dignity and quality of organizing the fair while taking guidance from the District Magistrate.

Free stalls will be available in Swadeshi fair
In the Swadeshi Mela, free stalls have been provided to the beneficiaries of Industries Department, Khadi and Village Industries Board, Mati Arts Board, Handloom and Textiles Department, Silk Department, Rural Livelihood Mission, CM Yuva, ODOP, Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, PMEGP, Chief Minister Self-Employment Scheme, funded units, self-help groups and other producers. Apart from this, stalls of public utility schemes/programmes provided earlier have also been set up. Use of GeM portal has been made mandatory for purchasing goods and services in the fair.
Swadeshi fairs will become the basis of GST savings festival
Swadeshi Mela is also being celebrated as GST Savings Festival. Information about the reduction in GST rates made by the Central and State Governments is being disseminated to the general public, so that they can buy items of daily use on Diwali and other occasions. To make the program joyful and interesting, social and cultural programs will be organized at the local level with the coordination and cooperation of the Culture Department, Yuvak Mangal Dal, Nehru Yuva Kendra, various educational and voluntary organizations.

Local artisans and entrepreneurs will get a platform
In these fairs, local artisans, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, handicraftsmen and rural industries will get a platform to showcase their art and products. He said that these fairs, which will be organized in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, will give the form of a mass movement to the “Vocal for Local” campaign before Diwali, which will give a new direction to both rural and urban economies. The objective of the state government is not limited to mere exhibition of products, but to provide economic support to small artisans and entrepreneurs and direct connection with the market.
