UP News: CM Yogi Adityanath instructed the officials to pits all the roads before Durga Puja, Dussehra, Deepawali and Chhath. The municipal corporations asked to complete the work rapidly with transparency and warned that action will be taken on negligence.
Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials to repair the roads that have been damaged due to monsoon and reconstructive work should be completed rapidly. He said that the roads of highways, expressways, rural or urban areas – all important routes should be in a completely correct condition before big festivals like Durga Puja, Dussehra, Deepawali and Chhath. The aim is that the general public should not have any problem.
Review of pit -free campaign
On Tuesday, the Chief Minister reviewed the progress of road repair and pit -free campaign in a departmental meeting. Officials said that out of 6,78,301 roads (length 4,32,989 km) of the state, 44,196 km has been targeted to be pitched. So far, on an average 21.67% progress has been made.
The CM took reports from all departments including NHAI, PWD, Village Development, Urban Development, Panchayati Raj, Irrigation, Sugarcane and Chinese Development and said that all departments should achieve the target at the same pace. Departments whose progress is slow will have to do better work. Emphasis was also laid on expediting repair work under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Sadak Yojana.
Strict stand on city development department
In a review of the Urban Development Department, the Chief Minister said that the amount allocated to the municipal corporations should be used correctly and on time. Work allocation should be done with complete transparency and no delay. He warned that the rights of the mayors would be reconsidered in the event of negligence. Also instructed that wherever EESL is arrears on municipal corporations, it should be dealt with immediately.
Status of road renewal works
The review stated that 31,514 km of roads have been included in the renovation scheme. The Public Works Department has registered 84.82% progress in it. CM said that renewal work should be completed in a timely manner and negligence should not be done at any level.

Special repair and restauration work
It was informed in the meeting that 2,750 km of roads have been identified for special repair and restoration. The Rural Development Department has registered 62.99% progress, Urban Development Department has registered 35.50% and the Department of Infrastructure and Industrial Development has registered 48.77% progress. The Chief Minister ordered that the Public Works Department should complete the survey by 30 September and submit an action plan to the government.
Status of routes before festivals
Seeing the festivals, officials said that 649 routes are in satisfactory conditions, while 114 routes have been found to be poor. The CM directed that the traffic should be smooth by improving these routes immediately. He said that roads are connected to the image of the state during festivals, so negligence will not be tolerated.
Emphasis on transparency and responsibility
CM Yogi said that this campaign is related to the convenience and security of the people of the state. Therefore, officers should prioritize transparency, timeliness and responsibility. Daily monitoring of works and regular reports should be sent at the government level.
North-south corridor outline
In the meeting, the Chief Minister also discussed the development of the North-South Corridor. He said that most of the highways and expressways of the state are in the east-west direction. It is now necessary that a strong north-south corridor be built from Nepal border to southern districts. For this, where the roads fall under the national highway, cooperation from NHAI should be taken and the rest of the routes should be widened and constructed at the state level. New Greenfield Road projects should also be proposed where needed.
