Uttar Pradesh government is going to build 6 modern hostels for SC students. ₹12.30 crore has been sanctioned under PM-AJAY scheme. These hostels will have modern facilities and students will get the benefit of better education and accommodation.
Lucknow. Under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath, the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to provide better education and modern living facilities to the Scheduled Caste (SC) students. In this direction, the Social Welfare Department, in collaboration with the Government of India, has decided to start the construction and repair work of 6 modern hostels in the state.
PM-AJAY Scheme 2025-26: ₹12.30 crore approved
Under the Pradhan Mantri Scheduled Caste Abhyudaya Yojana (PM-AJAY), a total of ₹ 12.30 crore has been approved for these hostels in the financial year 2025-26. Out of this, the first installment of ₹6.15 crore has been released. This scheme is a big step towards providing social justice and equal opportunities in education.
Hostel construction in Jaunpur, Sultanpur, Hathras and Firozabad.
Under this scheme, one hostel each will be built in Jaunpur, Sultanpur and Hathras, while three hostels will be built in Firozabad. All these will be developed as campuses with modern facilities, so that students from far-flung areas can get better living facilities.
Modern facilities: Hostels will become “learning hubs”
These hostels will have facilities like well-furnished rooms for students, modern mess, recreation room, library, guard room for security and residence for the superintendent. The aim of the government is to develop these hostels not just as a place to stay but as a complete “learning hub”.
Special focus on transparency and quality
Minister of State for Social Welfare (Independent Charge) Aseem Arun said that to maintain transparency in the construction work, the funds are being spent through SNA (Sparsh) account. Also, instructions have been given to complete the work within stipulated time and with good quality.

This scheme will not only provide better opportunities to SC students but will also help in making them self-reliant and competitive. This will strengthen the education structure in the state and promote social equality.
