Farmers associated with Aaqib Javed’s Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) cultivated sweet corn in an area of ​​8 acres in the Kharif season. These farmers include Shriram, Bhimsen, Vijendra and Rajesh Pratap, who conducted this experiment in villages Purnaha and Sugaha.

Cost reduced with 90% grant, better production

Due to getting 90 percent subsidy on seeds from the government, the cost per acre remained only between Rs 8 to 10 thousand. Agriculture department officials gave complete information about crop management to the farmers, which resulted in better production. The crop was ready in about two and a half months and an average production of 40 quintals per acre was obtained.

Better prices in the local market, farmers got big benefits

The produced sweet corn was sold in the local market through FPO at the rate of Rs 30 per kg. This gave farmers an income of Rs 1 to 1.25 lakh per acre, which is much more than traditional paddy cultivation.
