So far, 54 lakh farmers have joined the cooperative structure under the M-PAX membership campaign of the Yogi government. Low interest crop loans, improved seed-fertilizers, digital registration and UPI payments have strengthened the rural economy.
Lucknow. The M-PAX (Multipurpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society) membership campaign launched by the Yogi government to strengthen the cooperative-based rural economy in the state is now showing great results. Through this campaign, so far about 54 lakh farmers have joined the cooperative structure and are moving towards becoming self-reliant. The main objective of the government is to provide affordable financial services and agricultural facilities in rural areas through M-PAX, so that the village economy can be strengthened.
Farming promoted with affordable crop loans and improved seed-fertilizers
Under the special campaign run by the Yogi government, crop loans were made available to farmers at low interest rates. They were also provided with improved quality seeds and fertilizers, which reduced the cost of farming and helped in increasing production. To connect the rural economy with the formal banking system, more than two lakh new accounts were opened in district cooperative banks. About Rs 550 crore has been deposited in these accounts so far. In addition, share capital of Rs 110 crore was raised with the participation of members. On this basis, a total amount of Rs 660 crore flowed into the cooperative system. This increased the flow of credit in the villages and small farmers started getting financial facilities easily.
Digital subscription and registration facility near home
To modernize the cooperative structure, the membership process has been completely digitalized. Now digital portal and mobile based registration facility is available to connect with M-PAX. With this system, villagers are getting registration and other services near their homes, thereby saving both time and cost.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the M-PAX membership campaign for the first time in the country. This campaign was conducted in two phases. The first phase started in September 2023, in which a large number of farmers joined. The second phase was launched in September 2025, giving further momentum to the campaign.
Transparency brought by QR code and UPI payment
Strengthening cooperative societies is one of the major priorities of the Yogi government. The digital payment system in M-PAX has been implemented through QR codes. With the introduction of QR code and UPI based payment system, a cashless and transparent system has been implemented. Due to this, fertilizer distribution and other transactions are being done in a transparent and convenient manner. The government aims to bring prosperity to rural areas and empower farmers economically through cooperation.
