UP: Millets processing plants ready in 6 districts of Bundelkhand, farmers will get benefits from next year

Construction of millets processing, packaging and marketing centers has been completed in six districts of Bundelkhand. Machines will soon be installed in these plants built with the help of Yogi government. Seed distribution, processing and packaging work will start by next year.

Lucknow. Under the Uttar Pradesh Millets Revitalization Programme, construction of millets processing, packaging and marketing centers through Krishi Vigyan Kendras in six districts of Bundelkhand has been completed in February. Now machines will be purchased for these processing plants and installation work will start soon. According to departmental officials, all the plants will be started next year which will provide direct benefits to the farmers.

Processing plant being built with the assistance of Rs 95 lakh

These centers have been constructed with the financial help of the Agriculture Department in Jhansi, Banda, Lalitpur, Mahoba, Jalaun and Hamirpur districts. Yogi government has provided a sum of Rs 95 lakh for the establishment of each millets processing, packaging cum marketing centre.

Cultivation and marketing of Shri Anna will be promoted

The main objective of these centers is to promote the cultivation of Shree Anna (coarse grain), its processing and to provide better market to the farmers. Necessary buildings for processing plants have been prepared in all Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Now modern machines will be installed in them, with the help of which cleaning, processing and packaging of coarse grains will be done.

Seeds and processing facilities will be made available to farmers

The climate of Bundelkhand is suitable for coarse grains. Therefore, in the coming time, quality seeds will be made available to the farmers for the cultivation of Shri Anna. After the harvest is ready, the farmers’ produce will be processed and packaged in these centres, so that they can get better prices.

Banda Agricultural University gave information about progress

Dr. N., Director Extension, Banda University of Agriculture and Technology. Of. Bajpayee said that the construction of Shree Anna based processing plant buildings in Jhansi, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Mahoba, Banda and Hamirpur has been completed. Soon the work of purchase and installation of machines will also be completed. It is expected that the process of seed distribution to farmers and processing of produce will start next year.
