UP gets semiconductor power: Big entry of HCL-Foxconn due to the vision of Yogi government, know what will change. Up Hcl Foxconn Semiconductor Unit Yogi Government Investment Policy

UP Semiconductor Unit: A joint semiconductor OSAT unit of HCL and Foxconn is going to be established in Uttar Pradesh, which will have a production capacity of 20,000 wafers every month. This project will strengthen UP on the global tech map.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh is no longer limited to just expressways and airports. The state has now taken steps towards the technology which will determine the world economy in the coming decades. We are talking about semiconductor technology. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the self-reliant vision of the UP government now seems to be coming on the ground. The biggest example of this is the joint OSAT unit of HCL and Foxconn, which is going to be established soon in Uttar Pradesh. This project is not just a factory, but a strong effort to bring UP on the global tech map.

20,000 wafers every month, why is this project special?

The biggest strength of this unit is its production capacity of 20,000 wafers per month. In the semiconductor industry, wafer is considered the first and most important step in chip making. Hundreds to thousands of microchips are made from a single wafer. That means this unit will have the power to support the supply chain of not lakhs, but crores of chips every month. This is the reason why this project is being considered very strategically important not only for UP but for the entire country.

Unit will be set up near Jewar Airport, ground breaking possible in January

According to HCL Group Chairperson Roshni Nadar Malhotra, after getting approval from the Central Government, this unit will be set up in the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area, near Jewar Airport. This unit, to be built with an investment of about Rs 3706 crore, will be the first semiconductor assembly and testing unit of Uttar Pradesh. A ground breaking ceremony is expected in mid-January. After this the construction work will progress rapidly.

Which chips will be made and who will benefit?

Display driver chips will mainly be made in this factory. These are the same chips without which mobile phones, laptops and PCs, TVs and displays, cars and electric vehicles, smart electronic devices cannot function. Currently, India is largely dependent on imports for these chips. But with the start of this unit, domestic supply will be strengthened, expenditure on imports will reduce and Make in India will get real strength.

Uttar Pradesh becomes a trust for investment

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been continuously saying that ‘investment will come only when there is confidence in security, infrastructure and policies.’ Today, global companies like HCL and Foxconn coming to UP is proof that law and order is strong in the state, expressways, airports, logistics are ready, policies are industry-friendly. This is the reason why Uttar Pradesh is now counted among the most trusted states for investors.

What will change for the youth of UP?

This project will not be limited to machines only. With this, semiconductor skill development will be promoted. Engineering and technical youth will get new opportunities. Local talent will get a chance to connect with global technology. Thousands of skilled professionals will be required to run the high-end unit of 20,000 wafers, which will give impetus to both employment and training.
