Lucknow. The state government is going to take another important step towards accelerating industrial investment in the state and strengthening revenue resources. In this sequence, the Excise Department is brainstorming regarding the new Excise Policy 2026-27. Under this new policy, establishment of distillery plants in the state will be encouraged and many facilities are being seriously considered to promote exports.
Investors’ confidence will increase with the new excise policy
The state government believes that to take Uttar Pradesh towards a self-reliant economy, it is necessary to create a favorable environment for revenue growth, investment attraction and industries. For this purpose, the Excise Department has been instructed to take concrete steps to increase revenue. Under these instructions, the department has decided to promote distillery plants. On one hand this will increase government revenue, on the other hand new employment opportunities will also be created at the local level.
Establishment of distillery units will be easy
Under the new excise policy, establishment of new distillery units in the state will be made simple and attractive. For this-
- The licensing process will be made more transparent and time bound
- Fee structure will be rationalized
- Necessary permissions will be facilitated
These reforms will increase the confidence of investors and Uttar Pradesh will emerge as a major hub of the distillery industry. It is noteworthy that the state has already received record investment proposals through Nivesh Mitra, single window system and industry-friendly policies. The new excise policy is the next step in this development series.
Special focus on exports in the new policy
The Excise Department is giving special priority to exports in the new policy. To promote the export of spirits, alcohol and related products produced in the state, measures like necessary relaxation in rules, simplification of logistics system, giving additional incentives to exporters are being considered. This will make the products of Uttar Pradesh more competitive in the international market and foreign exchange earnings will also increase.
Farmers and rural economy will benefit
The Excise Department expects a significant increase in revenue from the expansion of distillery plants. Along with this, demand for agriculture based raw materials will also increase. Increasing consumption of sugarcane, grains and other agricultural products will directly benefit farmers and strengthen the rural economy.
Important initiative towards employment generation
The expansion of the distillery industry is likely to create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state. This initiative will prove to be an important step towards industrial development as well as local employment and overall economic strength.
