The power crisis in Uttar Pradesh has ended under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The demand-supply gap has become almost zero. Strong power system has given new impetus to industry, MSME and rural economy.
Lucknow. Electricity crisis in Uttar Pradesh is now a thing of the past. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state has made concrete progress towards energy stability and self-reliance, leaving behind the image of a state struggling with power shortage. Today the gap between demand and supply of electricity in the state has reached almost zero level.
State’s economy strengthened due to strong electricity system
Yogi government clearly believes that a strong power system is the foundation of a strong economy. Industrial investment in the state has increased due to better and reliable power supply. The MSME sector has gained new strength and new employment opportunities are continuously being created.
Historical balance in electricity demand and supply
According to the data, the total power requirement of Uttar Pradesh in the financial year 2022-23 was 1,44,251 million units. The effect of policy reforms and better management made by the government started becoming visible. Electricity supply increased to 1,48,287 million units in the financial year 2023-24. This figure reached 1,64,786 million units in the financial year 2024-25. The power shortage has been practically eliminated by December 2025 in the current financial year 2025-26.
Uninterrupted power supply ensured even during peak hours
Along with production, Yogi government also strengthened the transmission and distribution system. Timely supply of power was ensured from states with surplus power through the National Grid. Even during peak hour, almost complete electricity was made available in the state, which provided great relief to industries and domestic consumers.
Improved distribution system with RDSS and smart metering
Under the Revised Distribution Sector Reform Scheme (RDSS), dilapidated power lines were replaced, capacity of transformers was increased and smart metering was promoted. This reduced the losses of distribution companies and made effective control of electricity theft possible.
Electricity reached every village, rural economy got a boost
Large scale work was done under Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana and Saubhagya Yojana to provide electricity in rural areas. With electricity reaching villages and homes, agriculture, cottage industries and small businesses have got a new impetus.
