Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is moving from migration to transformation. Employment generation, industrial investment, labor welfare and social security schemes have given opportunities to the youth close to home.

Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh, which was once considered a state of migration for employment, is today presenting a new model of employment generation, industrial development and social security under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The impact of the government’s policies in the last nine and a half years is clearly visible on the ground.

Now the youth and workers are no longer forced to leave the state for job, education, health and security. People who had gone out earlier are now returning to their home districts. Migration has now been replaced by ‘reflection’, which is writing a new story of development and self-reliance.

Brake put on migration from job creation

During the tenure of Yogi government, employment has been created on a large scale through industrial investment, MSME expansion, employment fairs and skill development schemes. A historic decline has been recorded in the unemployment rate in the state and lakhs of youth have got jobs in the government and private sector. More than 53 thousand skilled workers are registered on the Sevamitra portal of the Employment Department, who are being directly linked to employment.

Industrial investment and infrastructure become a strong foundation for development

Single window system, transparent processes and ease of doing business reforms through Invest UP have increased investor confidence. With big infrastructure projects like expressway networks, airports, industrial corridors, defense corridors, medical colleges and logistics hubs, industries have now reached the districts. At present, more than 30 thousand factories are operating in the state, whereas before 2017 their number was not even half. This has created permanent employment opportunities at the local level.

Opportunities for youth and women increased in home districts

In the last nine and a half years, employment opportunities for youth, workers and women near home have increased manifold. With the expansion of industry and services at the local level, families are now getting a better life, stable income and a secure future.

Increased confidence in labor welfare and social security

The Yogi government has given priority to employment as well as social security of workers and their families. Atal Residential Schools are being run in every division for the children of registered workers and those who became destitute during the Covid period, where 100 boys and girls are being given residential education.

Strong financial protection against accident, death and disability

The government has made extensive safety provisions for workers. An assistance of ₹ 5 lakh is given in case of death at workplace, ₹ 3 lakh in case of permanent disability, ₹ 2 lakh in case of partial disability, ₹ 5 lakh in case of accidental death of a registered worker and ₹ 2 lakh in case of normal death. Apart from this, a provision of ₹ 25,000 for funeral assistance and ₹ 1.25 lakh in case of accident or death of an unregistered worker has also been made.

Expansion of pension, banking and family security schemes

Lakhs of people are benefiting from many schemes including Pradhan Mantri Shramyogi Maandhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Maternity and Girl Child Support Scheme. Under the Kanya Marriage Assistance Scheme, assistance ranging from ₹ 55,000 to ₹ 61,000 is being provided on the marriage of two girls. More than 9.52 crore bank accounts have been opened in the state under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana.

Better health facilities, reduced financial burden

Under the Construction Workers Critical Illness Assistance Scheme, 100 percent expenditure on treatment in government hospitals is being reimbursed. This has reduced the financial burden on labor families and they are now getting better health facilities in Uttar Pradesh itself.
