When the air of Delhi-NCR gets captured in a thick blanket of smog, the roads get lost in the white haze of fog and even breathing becomes difficult, then the governments are forced to take action. Exactly the same picture is currently visible in NCR and adjoining districts of UP. Amidst the increasing pollution and very poor air quality, the Yogi government has taken a big decision and completely banned diesel auto rickshaws in Noida and Ghaziabad.
Diesel auto ban: In which districts the ban was implemented?
The pollution level in Delhi-NCR continues to remain dangerous. According to the Central Pollution Control Board, dense fog traps the pollutants present in the air close to the ground, due to which the AQI is deteriorating rapidly. For this reason, diesel autos have been targeted first. According to government information, the ban on diesel autos has been implemented in these districts in a phased manner till December 31:
- Noida
- Ghaziabad
- baghpat
- Meerut
- Hapur
- Bulandshahr
- Muzaffarnagar
- Shamli
With this, new permits and permit renewals of banned vehicles have been immediately banned in Meerut.

State government’s new strategy to stop pollution

According to officials, road dust is considered to be the biggest cause of air pollution. For this reason a detailed action plan has been implemented, the main points of which are:
- Redevelopment of city streets
- Sprinklers for dust control, anti-smog guns
- mechanical cleaning of roads
- Dust control campaign in sensitive areas
- Strictness on heavily polluting vehicles
According to the government statement, the Principal Secretary of the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department has been appointed the chief nodal officer of this entire action plan.
Anti-smog plan implemented in Noida and Greater Noida
Noida and Greater Noida authority has increased the deployment of anti-smog guns to reduce dust on the roads. Water sprinkling in high-traffic areas, mechanical cleaning and monitoring of construction sites have also been intensified.
