Yogi government has strengthened the cyber crime framework to control digital fraud. Cyber security has been strengthened by training of 84,705 police personnel, 75 cyber police stations, cyber cells in every district, 1930 helplines and widespread public awareness.
Lucknow. With the rapidly increasing use of digital transactions and online services, the challenges of cyber fraud and hi-tech crimes have also increased. The Yogi government is continuously taking effective and concrete steps with the aim of protecting the common citizens and strengthening trust in the digital system.
In this series, the police force is being made technically capable to deal with cyber crime. So far, 84,705 police personnel have been given certified training through the Cyber Crime Training Portal, which has significantly increased the capacity to crack down and investigate cyber crimes.
Cyber crime control framework strengthened in a phased manner
In a written reply to a question asked in the Assembly, the government gave detailed information about the efforts being made to prevent cyber fraud and hi-tech crimes. In the reply, it was told that before the year 2017, only two cyber crime police stations (Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar) were functioning in Uttar Pradesh. In view of the increasing incidents of cyber crimes, the Yogi government strengthened the cyber crime control system in a phased manner.
Establishment of 16 regional and 57 district cyber crime stations
The government established 16 regional cyber crime stations on 06 February 2020 and 57 district cyber crime stations on 14 December 2023. Along with this, a special cyber crime framework was developed to deal with cyber crime in all the districts of the state.
Deployment of cyber cell and trained policemen in every district police station
To ensure prompt action on cyber crimes, cyber cells have been formed in every district police station of the state. Trained policemen have been deployed in these cyber cells, so that technical investigation and action can be taken immediately on complaints. At present, a total of 75 cyber crime police stations are operating in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh.
Large scale public awareness campaign for cyber security
The government has also paid special attention to making the general public aware about protection from cyber crime. Till now, cyber awareness programs have been organized at 65,966 public places in the state, through which people have been told ways to avoid online fraud, fake calls, links and digital fraud.
Capacity of 1930 cyber helpline increased, 24×7 service available
The helpline number 1930 has been further strengthened for quick complaint of cyber crime. Its capacity has been increased from earlier 20 seats to 50 seats. This helpline is fully functional 24×7, providing immediate assistance to the victims.
Cyber crime can be controlled through trained police, strong infrastructure and awareness.
According to the government, with the combined efforts of trained police force, modern cyber crime infrastructure and extensive public awareness campaigns, steady progress is being made towards effective control of cyber fraud and hi-tech crimes in the state.
