The Uttar Pradesh (UP) government has announced age relaxation for police recruitment to support young job aspirants in the state. As per the announcement made by the UP Chief Minister (CM) Yogi Adityanath, the state will now provide a relaxation of three years in the prescribed maximum age limit for candidates applying for police recruitment.
This will be applicable to direct recruitment in 2025 for 32,679 posts of Constable Civil Police and equivalent posts in the Uttar Pradesh Police. It is also applicable for all categories: General, OBC, SC, PwD and ST.
“The welfare of the youth of the state is our topmost priority. In this regard, a decision has been taken to provide a relaxation of 03 years in the prescribed maximum age limit for candidates of all categories under the direct recruitment-2025 for a total of 32,679 posts of Constable Civil Police and equivalent posts in UP Police,” UP CM posted on his official ‘X’ (earlier known as Twitter) account.
Due to this decision, candidates who were earlier over the age limit will now become eligible to apply. Yogi added in his tweet that the decision has been taken keeping in mind the welfare of the youth. Through this change, the UP government wishes to acknowledge the hard work, efforts and aspirations of lakhs of young people who are preparing for government jobs.
“This decision is a symbol of respect for the aspirations and hard work of lakhs of youth in Uttar Pradesh. UP Govt stands with full commitment and faith alongside the dreams of its hardworking youth,” Yogi added in his tweet.
The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has already released the advertisement for . The online applications commenced on December 31, 2025, and candidates have time till January 30, 2026 to apply for police recruitment exams. Aspirants need to complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the board’s portal before applying. All details related to eligibility, selection process, syllabus, exam schedule, and category-wise vacancies are available on the official UPPRPB website, i.e. uppbpb.gov.in. Final selection of the candidates will be based primarily on a written examination, document attestation, and a physical examination.
