Rural development has been given priority in the UP Budget 2026-27. A provision of Rs 25,500 crore has been made for housing, roads, livelihood and employment generation, which will strengthen the basic facilities and self-reliance of the villages.
Lucknow. In the budget for the financial year 2026-27, the Uttar Pradesh government has given special importance to rural development. A total expenditure of Rs 25,500 crore has been proposed to meet the basic needs of villages, construct housing, road facilities and increase livelihood opportunities. This will accelerate the pace of development in rural areas.
Special focus on rural livelihood and self-reliance
A total provision of Rs 25,500 crore has been proposed for schemes related to rural development. Under this, a provision of Rs 4,580 crore has been made for National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) and Rs 5,544 crore for VB Jeeramji Yojana. The objective of these schemes is to connect Self Help Groups (SHGs) and rural families with sustainable employment and self-reliance.
Construction in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Rural nears target
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), a target of 36.56 lakh houses was set from the year 2016-17 to 2025-26. In comparison, 36.37 lakh houses have been completed so far. The houses which are under construction are being completed soon. A provision of Rs 6,102 crore has been made in the budget for this scheme.
Rapid progress in Chief Minister Housing Scheme rural also
Under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme (Rural), a target of 4.61 lakh houses was set from the year 2018-19 to 2025-26. So far 3.67 lakh houses have been completed, while the construction work of the remaining houses is going on at a fast pace.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana will strengthen rural connectivity
To improve road connectivity in rural areas, a provision of Rs 822 crore has been proposed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). This will strengthen the connectivity of villages and along with traffic, economic activities will also be promoted.
