In the UP Budget 2026-27, a provision of Rs 18,620 crore has been made in the Women and Child Development Budget by 11%. Special focus has been given to destitute women pension, Kanya Sumangala Yojana, women hostel construction and child protection schemes.

In the budget for the financial year 2026-27, the Yogi government has given priority to women empowerment and has proposed an 11 percent increase in the budget of the Women and Child Development Department. Finance Minister Suresh Khanna said that the government is committed to strengthening the economic, social and financial participation of women. This year, a provision of about Rs 18,620 crore has been proposed for schemes related to women and child development, which is a significant increase compared to last year.

Loan and housing facility to women at cheap rates

The government has decided to provide loans at low interest rates to women, so that they can move towards self-employment and entrepreneurship. Along with this, there is also a plan to soon provide housing to the sanitation workers and workers working in the construction sector, which will improve their standard of living.

Destitute Women Pension Scheme: Increasing beneficiary number

A budget of Rs 3,500 crore has been proposed for the Destitute Women Pension Scheme. In the year 2016-17, the number of beneficiaries of this scheme was 17.32 lakh, which has increased to more than 38.58 lakh in the year 2025-26. This scheme is providing social security to economically weaker women.

Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Scheme and Women Hostel Construction

A provision of Rs 400 crore has been made under the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana for the bright future of girls. Keeping in mind the safety and convenience of working women, a budget of Rs 100 crore has been set for the construction of hostels and Rs 35 crore for the Chief Minister Shramjeevi Mahila Hostel Construction Scheme.

Special focus on protection and nutrition of needy children

A provision of Rs 252 crore has been made for the Uttar Pradesh Mukhyamantri Bal Seva Yojana for the care and protection of needy children. Apart from this, Rs 80 crore is proposed for the construction of a building under the Chief Minister Child Shelter Scheme. Through the Supplementary Nutrition Programme, nutritional assistance is being provided to about 1 crore 57 lakh beneficiaries in the state. Overall, Budget 2026-27 is being considered an important step towards strengthening women empowerment, child welfare, social security and nutrition schemes.
