All eyes will be on Prithvi Shaw in the IPL 2026 mini-auction. Once tipped to become the next big thing in Indian cricket, Shaw shockingly went unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction.

Not once, he was dropped twice from the Mumbai squad during the previous domestic season. Since Shaw went unsold in the IPL auction, his season ended early. Shaw will once again be in focus and it will be interesting to see which team bids for him.

Despite being unsold in the IPL in the previous auction, Shaw hasn’t changed his base price. The right-handed batsman has set his base price at Rs 75 lakh.

Shaw kicked off his IPL journey with Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2018. He joined DC for Rs 1.20 crore in the IPL 2018 mega-auction and stayed with them till 2024. DC retained him for Rs 7.50 crore before the IPL 2022 mega-auction.

Shaw scored 245 runs in 9 matches in IPL 2018. He followed up with 353 runs in 2019 and scored 228 runs in 2020. Shaw breached the 400-run mark for the first time in 2021 and scored 479 runs. He managed 283 runs in 10 matches in IPL 2022.

He struggled in IPL 2023 and only managed 106 runs in 8 matches. Shaw had made his T20I comeback earlier in 2023. He scored 198 runs in 8 matches in IPL 2024. DC released him before the IPL 2025 mega-auction and he didn’t fetch a bid during the two-day event.

Prithvi Shaw plays for Maharashtra

Prithvi Shaw switched his base to the Maharashtra cricket team before the start of the 2025/26 domestic season. He has played Ranji Trophy and T20 cricket for his state team. Shaw also captained the team in Ruturaj Gaikwad’s absence. He is now set to play his first List A game for Maharashtra.

Shaw, who kicked off his Test career with a century, has 339 runs in five Tests. He has 189 runs in six ODIs. He departed for a one-ball duck on his T20I debut against Sri Lanka.
