Unseasonal rain in Gujarat: Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took stock of farmers’ losses, relief package soon

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel expressed condolences on the loss suffered by farmers due to unseasonal rains. More than 4800 teams are conducting surveys across the state. 70% work completed, relief package will be announced soon.

Gandhinagar. Unseasonal rains that started from the last week of October have caused huge damage to the crops of farmers in many districts of Gujarat. At the time of this unexpected natural disaster, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel stood with the farmers with full sympathy and immediately started the relief and survey work.

Real time monitoring of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel

Chief Minister Shri Patel conducted high level meetings while doing real time monitoring from Gandhinagar and took detailed information about the situation of the affected farmers. He directed the Agriculture Department to immediately submit the complete report of damage to farmers’ crops.

Rapid survey in affected areas

The Agriculture Department and other departments of the state government established coordination and started a quick survey in the affected areas. So far, survey work has been completed in about 70 percent of the affected areas. In the remaining areas also, teams are working 24 hours under the guidance of the Chief Minister to complete the survey quickly.

More than 4800 teams gathered on war footing

To provide immediate assistance to the farmers, the state government has deployed more than 4800 survey teams in the affected districts. Complete assessment of crop losses is being done by these teams on a war footing so that the assistance amount reaches the farmers on time.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel inspected the site

On Monday afternoon, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel himself reached Kadwasan in Gir Somnath district and Panidra village in Junagadh district. He visited the farmers’ fields and inspected the condition of their crops and listened to their problems sensitively.

Visit of affected areas with ministers

Ministers Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia, Dr. Pradyuman Waja and Minister of State Shri Kaushikbhai Vekaria were also present along with the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister assured the farmers that the state government stands with them with full sympathy and commitment and all possible steps are being taken to compensate for the losses.

249 tehsils and more than 16 thousand villages affected

The Chief Minister said that according to preliminary estimates, crops of more than 16,000 villages in 249 tehsils have been affected by this unseasonal rain. Survey has been completed in 70 percent areas and this work will be completed soon in the remaining areas.

Relief package process started

Mr. Patel said that the state government will announce a generous relief assistance package as soon as the survey is completed. The necessary administrative processes for this are being completed rapidly.

Ministers also inspected

Under the guidance of CM Bhupendra Patel, other ministers of the state government have also visited the affected districts. Deputy Chief Minister Shri Harsh Sanghvi visited Surat, Agriculture Minister Shri Jitubhai Vaghani Bhavnagar, Tribal Development Minister Shri Naresh Patel Tapi, Forest Minister Shri Arjunbhai Modhwadia and Social Justice Minister Dr. Pradyuman Waza visited Junagadh and Gir Somnath. Minister of State Shri Kaushikbhai Vekariya inspected Amreli district and met the farmers.
